The Sligo Bay Catchment Rivers Trust CLG is delivering practical projects across the catchment to improve water quality, restore habitats, enhance biodiversity and build resilience to climate change. Our initial work has focused on tackling invasive species, particularly Himalayan balsam, through community-led control programmes and volunteer action days aimed at protecting native habitats and reducing pressures on our river corridors.
Alongside this, we are progressing a natural flood management study within the Owenmore catchment to identify opportunities for nature-based solutions that can help slow the flow of water, reduce flood risk, improve water quality and deliver wider environmental benefits for local communities and wildlife.
As our work continues to grow, new projects will be added to this section. Please use the drop-down menu in the header to explore individual projects and learn more about the work being undertaken across the Sligo Bay Catchment.
